Flight Crew
Scheduling
Crew management is one of the most complex duties in any airline.
Accounting for company and regulatory requirements can be one of the
most taxing and time consuming issues for your operations staff.
Flight Manager Solutions crew scheduling subsystem provides a user
friendly set of tools for the assignment, movement and tracking of your
crewmembers throughout your operation.
The flight crew scheduling
system includes automatic calculation of flight and duty time,
predictions against regulations to determine if problematic areas exist
and alerts for certain critical areas. It also provides the
ability to perform ad-hoc compliance checks against possible trips while
utilizing existing data that will allow you to integrate completed
flight history, incomplete trips already in the system, and additional
unscheduled trips.
Scheduling Desk
The scheduling desk is the
heart of the crew scheduling and crew tracking system. Although
the scheduling desk is a multi-purpose form that allows the user to
view, and add schedule items if given rights. Any item except a
flight can be added here. Flights must propagate down
from your flight planning system.
Examples schedule items
include sick, vacation and other off-duty or on-duty codes. The
general layout as shown below and in the next couple of pages will be
used.
The
upper left side of the form has a mini calendar that allows you to
change the date. In turn the information shown in the 3 day, week
and monthly view will correspond to the selected date and crewmember.
The
right side of the form contains 7 page frames, each serving a different
purpose. You'll notice that the first tab is a turnover log.
This log allows a user to add items and designate their rating of
importance. They can set reminders, as well as allow the
information to cross over to flight dispatchers. This feature
ascertains that the left hand always knows what the right hand is doing.

The 3 day, 7 day and monthly
views are based on the calendar date selected, allowing for easy access
to past and present information. Using the 7 day view, a
scheduler can right click on a time bar to get basic flight data.
A 2nd
click will expose the “Actual” or “Prediction” flight times for this
event. The times are divided by 24, 48 or 72 hours, 7, 30, 90 or
180 days, calendar and rolling year. It also includes landings in
the last 90 days. Most times have a “/” to separate the
calculations at at departure (left side) or arrival (right side).
This makes it easy to identify whether or not a crewmember meets the
regulatory requirements.
Additional features of the
scheduling desk include demographic information from their personnel
record, as well as license, passport and visa information, plus the
status of required training. All at a touch of the button and in
one simple interface.
Flight Crew Rostering
Flight crew rostering is the
art of taking your marketing departments plan, your finance departments
goals and your operations department needs to create a schedule and
series of flights that comply with regulatory and company guidelines.
Efficient resource planning, scheduling and allocation are essential for
operators who want to improve service quality and increase reactivity,
particularly when cost is a primary factor. Operators need to assign the
right resources to the right place at the right time, generating savings
while ensuring that feasible schedules meet policies and regulations.
Flight Manager Solutions
flight crew rostering program is designed to give you flexibility over
the way your rosters are generated by allowing you to control certain
calculations and limiting parameters, including limitation on hotel
usage. The system also allows you to perform one-click comparisons
of generated roster lines using our variable projection algorithms.
Once a crew roster has been generated to your likings, moving it to the
bid line control system is only a click away. The information is
then available to your crew scheduling department who can assign the
appropriate personnel to the roster. This is usually the very
first step in the crew management process.
